Saint-Louis, November 3 (APS) – The population of Langue de Barbarie (Saint-Louis) demonstrated the towns of the city on Saturday to "take urgent care of the violations that have been opened since 2003" against floods.
Part of the districts of Guet Ndar, Goxu Bathie and Santhiaba ended the procession at Faidherbe. This gap, which is now 4.5km, "is a permanent threat to the lives of fishermen," according to protesters.
"More than 300 fishermen died because of the breach," said Yame Dièye, spokesman for the public, urging the authorities to "take over this situation, which is of primary importance in the lives of living people at the Langue de Barbarie level."
"Guet Ndar, Goxu Bathie and Santhiaba are endangered by coastal erosion, which grows every year and threatens the city of Saint Louis today, the Senegalese map, Dièye warned.
